to a close. Thankfully, a warm, unseasonable October extended the season by 2-3 weeks. It has been a summer of extended rain periods and hot-humid temperatures. In between, campers and park visitors enjoyed all that Wyalusing State Park has to offer.Who knew that the season would be marked with a late fall flood!
The F
riends of Wyalusing, who operate the concession stand, have always made a priority of offering wood free of insects and as dry as possible. Campers wishing to burn wood for the 'true camping experience', could always purchase wood without getting into a vehicle and leaving the park. This was not a record season for wood purchases. However, visitors did purchase over 5000 bundles of wood and over 300 packages of kindling. Next summer, the wood supplier will have firewood that meets or exceed the U.S. Governments standards. All of the firewood will be kiln dried before it enters the park. So, thanks for the memories, see all of you next year!
The Friends of Wyalusing have operated the concession stand for the last few years (Has it been five or six years?). All profits from the season have always been returned to Wyalusing State Park for special projects which enhance the visitor's outdoor experience. The Friends of Wyalusing extend an open invitation to join the group. (Click here for application information.)
